Appointed in February 2012 as the Director of the Department Labour & Pensions in the Cayman Islands Government, he served in that capacity until August 2015, including Acting as the Superintendent of Pensions from December 2012. Mr. Ebanks previously served for 10 years as the Senior Consultant and Project Leader with Premier Solutions Group, and prior to that as the Senior Manager for Human Resources and Human Capital Consulting for Deloitte & Touche. He served previously in the Cayman Islands Government, in the Ministry of Community Development which was then responsible for Labour & Pensions, from 1994 to December 1997. In July 2015 he became the Chief Human Resources Officer of the Cayman Islands Airports Authority (CIAA).
Mr. Ebanks originally from Cuba moved to the Cayman Islands at a young age.
He is also a member of the American Management Association, the Society for Human Resource Management, the Employment Management Association, and the Global HR Forum. Locally he is a Past President of the Cayman Islands Society for Human Resource Professionals, and has been actively monitoring, advocating, and commenting on relevant Human Resource regulations and practices. He served as the Deputy Chairman of the Immigration Business Staffing Plan Board, and formally the Deputy Chairman of the Cayman Turtle Farm Board. He was also a Member of the Labour Appeals Tribunal, and the Investors in People Council.
As a Rotarian since 1992, he served as President of the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman Central in 1998-99, he is a Paul Harris Fellow, and served as District Director for Vocational Service during the term of Past District Governor RC (Bobby) Bodden. Mr. Ebanks and his wife Lovenia have attended 7 Rotary International Conventions, ranging from Singapore in the East to Buenos Aires Argentina in the South .
He has a wealth of exposure to corporate governance, having served as President of a number of organizations, including: The Overseas Students Association, the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman Central, Junior Achievement, and the C.I. Society for Human Resource Professionals. In addition to the above mentioned statutory bodies, previously he also served as a Member of the Education Council, a member of the Community College Board of Governors, and a Trustee of the International College of the Cayman Islands.
A 1986 graduate of the School of Business Administration of the University of Miami, Mr. Ebanks holds a BBA degree in International Finance & Marketing, with a minor in Economics, where he was a Bank America scholar. He also attained a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Tennessee, Executive Master’s programme in 2002, where he was a Deloitte scholar. He is also a graduate of the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill) and SHRM “Business of Human Resources” executive certification series, as well as a participant in the Disney’s Human Resource Management certificate programme. Mr. Ebanks also holds a Certificate in Global Remuneration Administration from the World @ Work Professional Society, and has also participated in the Ivy Leadership Programme, through the University of Western Ontario.
